VANILLA SPONGE, BUTTERCREAM, WISHES • 004

October is a good month in our house. 1st of October is my wife's birthday and then towards the end of the month it's mine. The entirety of October is filled with birthday plan talks, wish lists, and slightly excessive takeaway food orders because celebrating your birthday is a good enough excuse.

October is also when everything starts getting cosy. The autumnal colours kick in, everything turns golden, the nights get longer and pumpkin spice everything season is in full motion.

End of October also means that it's the beginning of the annual Harry Potter watch through. Philosopher's Stone (or Sorcerer's Stone for my friends over the pond) is synonymous with my birthday weekend and it's a mandatory part of it. And yes, of course one of our birthday cakes over the last few years was a HAPPEE BIRTHDAE one. And yes, I'm aware I am well and truly a nerd level potterhead. Moving on!

004 • VANILLA SPONGE, BUTTERCREAM, WISHES is everything that October is in our household. Vanilla sponge, buttercream, and the smell of a kitchen after baking, all butter and sugar and warm bread. It's a sweet one, with a slight hint of berries.
